BMW of San Francisco now offers four different BMW plug in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) eligible for single occupant HOV lane access in California: the popular X3 and X5 SUV models and the 330e and 530e sedans.   The State of California’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issues Clean Air Vehicle decals that allow vehicles meeting specified emissions standards single occupancy use of High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes.  For more info on how to acquire an HOV lane sticker for your BMW, please visit https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/our-work/programs/carpool-stickers/about.

Access to HOV lanes throughout the Bay Area can significantly improve a driver’s commute time.  BMW drivers with HOV access that travel the I-80 West route from Oakland or Berkeley to San Francisco via the San Francisco Bay Bridge not only save significant time but are also eligible for a reduced bridge toll.  Other HOV / Carpool lanes in the San Francisco Bay Area include I-80 Eastbound from Emeryville, through Berkeley, Richmond, El Cerrito: all the way to Vallejo. The east bay I-880 freeway has a carpool lane from Oakland, through San Leandro, Hayward and Fremont, which terminates in Milpitas.  Just south of the San Francisco Airport, US 101 Southbound carpool lane can get you from Redwood City, through Palo Alto, Mountain View, Santa Clara and finally to Morgan Hill.  It’s not difficult to imagine how much time a BMW PHEV vehicle can save you in the San Francisco Bay Area’s carpool lanes.

In addition, BMW of San Francisco is now a registered dealer for the Clean Fuel Reward Program.  The California Clean Fuel Reward is available to anyone who buys or leases a new BMW electric vehicle with a battery capacity greater than 5 kWh.
