Our Spartanburg, SC plant was recognized as "Energy Partner of the Year 2007" by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for, among other things, fueling the majority of its power needs from methane gas that is piped in from a nearby landfill. Who knew you could turn trash into something so desirable?

As part of our continuing commitment to reducing environmental impact while delivering driving pleasure, BMW is constantly developing new technologies. Our new Advanced Diesel with BluePerformance provides the power of a V-8 with the efficiency of a four-cylinder. And our ActiveHybrid engines, which will be introduced in the 2010 7 Series and X6 Sports Activity Coupe,™ utilize gasoline and electric power to achieve greater efficiency and electrifying performance.

For the road ahead, we're focusing on the promise of hydrogen. In fact, our BMW Hydrogen 7 sedan has already proven that with the right thinking, you really can create an internal combustion engine whose only emission is water. What a refreshing idea.
